Self-Publishing Month

For this month, Goodreads is doing spotlights on self-published authors,  Be sure to check it out.  I did the self-publishing route but through assisted publishing with Simon & Schuster's self-publishing arm - Archway Publishing.  After a lot of research and trying to get published the traditional way, I found Archway to be a great way to get your work out there but they do most of the work with the publishing and it makes it really easy for you to get published, look great and it's handled professionally.  I am excited to finally submit "Commuter Bob" to Archway for my second fiction book very shortly so stay tuned.  A friend is doing final edits and then it will be on it's way.  Thanks for your support.

Update on next book - COMMUTER BOB

Hi everyone.  Commuter Bob is complete but just editing it right now to make sure it's perfection.  Will take me a few months and then I will start the publishing process.  This book is VERY different than my first one.  Whether you deal with a commute to NYC or just a commute to dropping your kids off at school, you will be able to relate to Bob and how he feels about commuting.  There are of course some elements of the beach even in this book though because I love the beach so much it had to be in there.  :)

Thanks for your support and I'll share some teasers and excerpts on Commuter Bob soon.  In the meantime, hope you all have purchased "For the Love of the Ocean" for your Summer reading.  xo

Article in "The Bordentown Current" Newspaper

One day at a Starbucks, I met a writer for the "Bordentown Current".  We had a terrific discussion and to my surprise, the article she was interviewing me for made the front page of the paper.  This is not something I had expected.  Here is a link to the article:

Bordentown Current Feature

Thanks so much again for all of your support.  I am editing and re-reading "Commuter Bob", my next book, now and then it will be submitted to my publisher for publication so I will keep you posted.

Commuting and "Commuter Bob"

Getting tons of inspiration for "Commuter Bob", my next novel, lately.  I have been working longer hours in New York City and taking trains at times I normally wouldn't and let me tell you, it's even worse than my normal commute.  I have had three dinners into the evenings and it doesn't matter what time I leave, it's still always a nightmare.  Life would be a lot easier if I hit the lottery and could afford a small apartment here.

Cheers to anyone with a long commute because I can totally relate.  My next book, "Commuter Bob", will showcase Bob's commuting frustrations and the back story of his life and coming to terms with what he wants for his future.  I can agree with Bob though on one thing he doesn't want for his future...a long commute working in Manhattan!

This book is final review and edit and then it will be submitted for publication but may take a few months.  Stay tuned for more insights and I will let you know when Bob is ready for the world.

Have a great rest of the week,
Chrissy

Intentionalb

Love it when a local business supports a local writer.  This is exactly what happened to me.  Intentionalb, a local gift store in Bradley Beach, NJ, is selling my books at their store.  Intentionalb is "intentional living by Brigitte".  They offer inspired gifts, local artisan work, crafty workshops and creating community.

You can find my book here now too.  Check out Intentionalb here:

Follow your dream in 2016

I am currently working on my second book, Commuter Bob.  Bob is a complainer who commutes into New York City.  He hates commuting to put it lightly and creates this anonymous blog to talk about the trials and tribulations of commuting.  Everyone wants to figure out who "Bob" is as he has the most popular blog on the internet.  About 75% done and then Bob will come to life.

Here's to all of you following your dream in 2016.  For me, it's writing.  Wish me luck!

The Power of People

The Power of People

The one thing I've realized after writing a book is how great my friends and family are.  Not that I didn't already know this but it is so great to get the support I have received.  All of the people who are proud of my accomplishment, liked my Facebook page, followed me on Twitter and especially those took the time to purchase and read my book has been overwhelming in a wonderful way.  Just a little note to say it really is your circle who help you be successful and the power of people.  Look at people like Justin Bieber...it was the power of people using YouTube that helped him get discovered by Usher.  It's hard when you have no connections in a field.  Being in HR, I see this everyday.  A lot of the time, it's "who you know" that gets your foot in the door.  One thing I can say is that while I do not have connections in the publishing or entertainment world to get my break, I can definitely count on the power of people to spread the word about my book.  And, while I hope my book becomes successful because I really do feel like it's a story worth telling that people will enjoy, I am happy to have the reminder of the power of my inner circle.

The picture included shows several people who sent me a picture when they got my book and these are just a few!

Thanks so much to all of you.  You know who you are!  XO
